A flight delay on my trip to the Far East meant I missed my next plane. I had to wait 8 hours at Zayed International Airport. This turned a bad situation into a great chance to see something outside! After a quick search, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque looked like the best place to go. I stored my luggage, grabbed my camera, and ran out into the hot air to find a ride. Soon, I saw the Mosque. Its white walls and towers were huge and amazing.

The Great Mosque in Abu Dhabi is a stunning building. It was the idea of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the first leader of the UAE. He wanted it to be a sign of peace, kindness, and different cultures coming together.

It was early morning, and everything was very quiet—no cars, no tourists, just a bright, hot sun. I walked onto the Mosque grounds. My eyes looked at how all the different Islamic building styles—from Persia, India, and North Africa—mixed perfectly. The huge amount of white marble used everywhere stands for purity and calm. The Mosque has 82 domes and four tall towers, each 107 meters high.

The large courtyard is about 17,000 square meters. It features the world's largest marble floor mosaic, made with bright, costly stones.

Inside, there's the world's largest hand-knotted carpet. It covers 5,700 square meters. Many thousands of workers spent time making it perfect. Above, you see chandeliers made with millions of Swarovski crystals and covered in 24-carat gold. The biggest one weighs about 12 tons.

Over 1,000 columns throughout the Mosque are covered in white marble. They are decorated with flower patterns made from small, valuable stones. The main wall that faces Mecca lists the 99 names of Allah.

Everything felt powerful and grand. A deep sense of calm filled the space. Even the sound of my camera clicking felt too loud. This amazing visit turned a simple delay into a meaningful time, teaching me more about culture and giving me a little piece of wisdom.
